With the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran, Shiites in the region felt encouraged to try and secure equal treatment as that given to Sunni's. Shiites in Saudi Arabia were very receptive to Khomeini and his attacks on the Saudi royal family on the grounds that Islam and hereditary kingship are not compatible.[1][7] As a result, 1979 saw a marked increase in the mobilisation of the Shiite community in Saudi Arabia, with demonstrations often being centered around Shiite festivals.[2] The celebration of these festivals, including that of the Day of Ashura, was banned.

Also, a secret deal with Israel and Saudi arm's deal to Sudan which was clandestine in 1981 between some of Ariel Sharon's private business partners, a Saudi attache and an African leader that would suppress Libya and beef up military in Eastern Africa.  I also play footage of intensity of Israel-Lebanese conflict of 1982.
