THE WRITERS LOUNGE PRESENTS: TOMMY MISCHKE

    in Writing

Join host Tom Riddell and co-host Teri Brown as they welcome author Tommy Mischke to The Writers Lounge. Sit back and relax as Tommy discusses what it's like to be a writer and he will also talk to us about his book: Winter's Song- A Hymn to the North
Winter's Song offers to take the reader into the northern areas of the Midwest and introduces them to people who have a love affair with winter. It's not the mediocre climates of winter that other parts of the United States experience, but the harsh and unforgiving brutality that mother nature bestows to Northerners, giving them an opportunity to learn from and to appreciate the adversity of a most challenging season. Often times, winter is described as otherworldly by the people of the northern regions, but it has been said that this season of snow, cold and bone chilling winds has also influenced and largely shaped them into the people they are. A nod to spring, summer and autumn; also welcomed when they take their turn on the stage, but winter, one could argue, has many more dramatic and interesting stories in its wonderous archives. Mischke delivers to us stories that are rich in childhood memories, cultural references, spiritual beliefs as it all relates to winter and humor is also found within the pages of Winter's Song. He has a specialknackin going deeper into what it means to be human and in our relationship to nature. He gives us winter and invites us to welcome her for all that she is. Her harshness and beauty await within Winter's Song.

A Taste Of Ink LIVE featuring Jonathan Pruitt

    in Books

With each new dawn, the celestial body known only as 'Calamity' draws closer - and with it the end of the world. Humanity's only hope from oblivion rests in the menhirs, towering bastions of scholarship and imagination which cast long shadows across the lands. The scholars within the menhirs devote themselves selflessly to the discovery of new magic that will help avert the impending apocalypse ... or so the masses have been made to understand.
In a society divided between those with occult potential and lay citizens, Tara Langcraw is recruited into the Amber Menhir with great interest. The long-awaited heiress of a bloodline bearing the rarest of the six magical disciplines, time manipulation, she is expected to flourish within this noble citadel of learning, as are her friends and fellow recruits, Roland Ward and Peony Bianchi.
They soon find, however, that those who fail to meet expectations, or who dare to challenge the prevailing order, put more than their marks on the line. The menhir squirms with rivalries, and those who stand against the status quo may not stand for very long. - Synopsis for The Amber Menhir
Author Jonathan N. Pruitt is a lifelong educator turned fantasy author. His real-life redemption arc took him from being a child prodigy in an economically disadvantaged rural county in Florida, to obtaining his PhD at the age of 24, and then to an international scandal in 2020 that attacked his research methods. ?But like the Phoenix, he rises.?
Join Host C. Stene Duckworth and Jonathan Pruitt to discuss the Amber Menhir  - on Saturday, November 18th at 1:00 PM EST - 12:00 PM Central - 11:00 MST/AZ - 10:00 Pacific Dial in at (319) 527-6781 #1?? or http://tobtr.com/12285093
