Shanda Mattix is the equine program director and head equestrian team coach at CCC. She also serves on the Kansas Horse Council Board of Directors, is the Kansas Horse Council Region 1 director, a state certified horse show judge, and a 4-H horse volunteer. Shanda is a Master Riding Instructor through the Certified Horsemanship Association and serves as the CHA Director for Kansas and a Director for CHA Region 9. She\'s also certified through EAGALA as an Equine Specialist. She was raised on a commercial cow-calf operation in Northwest Kansas and grew up showing quarter horses, barrel racing, and competing in horse judging contests. As a youth, she was a member of the 2001 AQHYA Reserve World Champion Horse Judging Team and the 2002 AQHYA World Champion Horse Judging Team.

Shanda is an alumna of the Colby Community College equestrian team and Kansas State University women's varsity equestrian team competing in the horsemanship and reining. She was also a member of the 2005 Kansas State University horse judging team. As a college equestrian, she was a regional qualifier all four years and recognized with numerous High Point Rider awards.

Shanda and her husband, Caleb Mattix, reside in Colby with their two children and continue raising the Draper family's commercial cattle herd.

Shanda also serves as the Vice President of the CCC Faculty Alliance and serves on multiple campus committees. Shanda also advises the CCC Farm Bureau Chapter.
