Kate Gondwe is a Malawian-American film director from Kansas. With an interest in personal filmmaking and a side passion for photography, music videos and creative direction. Previously a distribution intern at Kino Lorber and an editorial intern for Film at Lincoln Center’s Film Comment Magazine. She has a love for world and independent cinema. Her shorts have screened at festivals across the world. She received recognition for her short documentary “The Puppet Lady” back in 2016 winning TFF Best Student Documentary. For three years, Kate served as an EPA programmer (a program sponsored by The Academy)programming a number of student short films for the Tallgrass Film Festival. Kate has served as creative director, art director and video director for Index Magazine and assistant photo director for Em Magazine. Currently a rising senior undergraduate at Emerson College. Kate hopes to finish her thesis film in the next year which will enter her into narrative drama.
