The workplace accident that claimed Lisa Standeven’s right hand changed her life forever. Initially mired in depression, she saw no hope for the future. When less resilient individuals would have given up in despair, Lisa persevered in her recovery and rehabilitation, bravely resolving to overcome others’ judgement and her own self-doubt.

Along the way, Lisa learned the life truths that gave her the strength, the courage and the conviction to carry on. Understanding that adversity is an inevitable part of life, this statuesque “success strategist” now shows others that it’s how you react to that adversity that makes the positive difference.

Lisa has now lived over half her life as an amputee, but it’s never stopped her from achieving her goals. Having attained a Master’s in Education, her 4th Degree Black Belt and four World Para Taekwondo Championships, this dynamic self-starter has skydived, rappelled and climbed mountains, literally and figuratively.

Having recently embarked on an inspiring career as a motivational speaker and resilience mindset mentor, Lisa now teaches others the skills and strategies that have repeatedly guided her through crisis to triumph, sharing with all the empowering “Art of Optimizing Adversity”.
