Jesus himself prayed for his followers to be "one"--and yet, to walk down the streets of any town in your area, you'll find different church buildings and denominational groups, sometimes right next door to one another, all insisting they worship the same God and follow the same Lord Jesus, but divided along lines of tradition, confession, and denominational groupings. How did we get here? In this new series of Crazy Faith Talk, pastors Erica, Sarah, and Steve explore how Jesus' followers have been pulled into different [often competing] groups from the first generation, and how the last twenty centuries have been a part of that ongoing fragmentation. We'll be looking over the course of these coming weeks at both the negatives to having distinct "denominations" of Christianity, what the positives might be for keeping those structures and traditions, and how we navigate in a culture full of competing Christian expressions.
