God is warning people of today of His coming judgment just as He warned the people of Noah’s day which says God is the same today as He was when He judged the world in Noah’s day.
I believe Noah found himself in a very bitter struggle between two destinies. The first was to bid the world goodbye and to forsake society, and the second was to take refuge in the Ark that would save him, and his family from God’s wrath. I am reminded of what the Apostle Paul said to the Philippians. “23 I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better. 24 But to remain in the flesh is more necessary on your account.”
Noah probably would have liked for God to delay His judgment and see more than eight people come to faith in the Lord.
