Monica Day is an original Georgia Peach, born in Savannah, GA and raised in Atlanta since the age of 5 years old. Monica is a product of the DeKalb county school system, graduating from South West DeKalb High School in 1983. Monica serves faithfully as a Minister and Biblical Counselor at New Mercies Christian Church in Lilburn, GA.
Monica is the mother of two beautiful daughters, Jennifer and Kristina. Minister Day is the author of “Praying Through Your Storms” and the founder of Daylight Awareness & Prevention Agency, Inc. Monica also serves as the Georgia- State Action Leader for the Love Is Not Abuse Campaign with the Love Is Respect Organization.
Monica is a survivor of a 16 year psychologically, emotionally, financially and physically abusive marriage. As a result of the abuse she endured, Monica knows firsthand the embarrassment, the pain and trauma a victim experiences. Monica has had many scars and bruises, black eye and busted lips. She also knows the frustration in putting her and her daughter’s lives back together.
As Monica began her journey of healing God planted the vision for Daylight, Inc in her spirit and a month later Daylight, Inc was born and was incorporated in November 2009. It is Monica’s heart's desire to save other women from suffering in silence as she did, by speaking out against domestic abuse and violence and teaching women and girls the signs of an abusive relationship.
She has had the unique opportunity to share her testimony and speak out against domestic abuse on CNN’s News Now and Court TV. Monica has also been a guest on the PK Faith Internet Radio Show where she talked about the signs of an abusive relationship. She shines the light on dating violence and domestic abuse whenever she can and wherever she goes.
