What do you know about critical race theroy? This is a question that one must really ask themself. This topic was brought to my attention as I was watching television and learned that a principal was in trouble with his school district as it relates to what he was teaching the children at his school. Interesting part was his race and the fact that he had biracial children. While watching television I learned that such is banned in several states. The explanation given and the response at the school board meeting sparked my interest as this was the first time I had ever heard of critical race theory. Not to mention that we as parents are responsible for teaching our children as most of what they learn starts at home. Then to add to my knowledge I binged watched the Netflix movies Colin Black and White and Two Different Strangers which are a must watch.

Critical  race theory (CRT) is an approach to studying U.S policies and institutions that is most taught in law schools. Its foundation date back to the 1970's. When I approached others regarding this topic I received interesting reponses. This is a topic that must be discussed especially if such is being banned in several states yet many may have limited or no knowledge as to what it really means.

It is time to tell the truth. There is a difference between being racist, bias, rude, unaware or just not wanting to know. In order to change one's behavior one must acknowledge such behavior.  Respect is a must no matter one's race. Feelings can change. Learning and gaining an inderstanding about one's race and culture can change how one view and treat another. I am not saying we all have to be friends however respect can go a long way. Let's talk about it live 11/1/21 at 12pm Pacific. To join in on the conversation call 516 387-1914. What are you teaching your children. Let's talk about it.
