When is comes to the Criminal Justice System such appears to be full of flaws. In the United States many have seen the innocent being wrongfully accused and may have served lenghtly sentences or perhaps have been placed on death row or put to death while many that have committed crimes have either been set free, given a shorter sentence or perhaps were not even arrested. With such going on what is one to do when they have been accused of a crime that they did not commit. I have often heard individuals say that they took deals by plea bargaining as they just wanted to be released from custody only to later declare their innocence. Then comes another concern which relates to if the punishment fits the crime.
It is known that the United States incarcerates more people in both absolute numbers and per capita than any other nation. American taxpayers spend billions of dollars each year to keep millions of individuals behind bars. So what can we do about this issue.
