Today we live in a culture that is obsessed with sex. It is in the media, in our churches and in our homes. Unfortunately unlike other addictions or addictive behaviors this behavior is taboo. While there is plenty of information as it relates to individuals addicted to alcohol, drugs, food and gambling.  Individuals addicted to sex are less likely to find help and in most cases do not realize that they may have a problem. There may be several reason for this one being that sex addiction is a disorder characterized by compulsive sexual thoughts and behaviors. It is poorly understood and difficult  to diagnose. In a culture where sex, like alcohol is socially acceptable and encouraged, and sexual images and provocation abound it becomes challenging to distinguish  between normal sexuality and excessive or abnormal sexual behavior. If you are the partner of an individual that you question may have a sex addiction there are some important things that you need to know. First it is not about the sex. Second it's not about you. And thirdly restoration is possible.
