Post Traumatic Stress Disoder is a real illness. Many suffered in silence because they did not know what to do. It was not until 1980 that The American Psychiatric Association added PTSD to the third edition of its Diagnostic and Statistical Manual. PTSD is a unique disorder. Many individuals believed that it only affected individuals that were associated with the military or may have participated in a war. We have now learned that this disorder extends beyond the military. One can look healthy and normal and can develop PTSD after witnessing or living through a traumatic event, such as a war, a natural disaster, sexual assault, any type of abuse, or a bad accident. We are now also learning that this is becoming a crisis that is being ignored as many individuals are being wounded in their own homes and neighborhoods.  One will experience symptoms of stress and other symptoms of danger after the event is over. This can effect the life of the individual and those around them.

Join me on 1/23/17 at 12pm Pacific as I provide valuable information about this disorder. You don't have to live in fear. Let's end the stigma associated with mental health treatment and educate others about the symptoms, treatments and resources.
