There is no such thing as a perfect parent. A parent can be a minor or a legal adult. In our society the role of a parent comes with many responsibilities and one often feel that they need a break. However taking that break can be demonstrated in different ways. Many view substance use as the norm. And with the legalization of marijuana in some states the difference between substance use versus substance abuse is becoming more complex. As a parent one is viewed as a role model. That relationship is one that can leave a blue print in one's life. Today's show is designed to address the issue of substance use and parenting. My goal is not to blame or shame parents or individuals. The goal is to educate listeners as I discuss childhood experiences, parenting styles, perinatal drug exposure, child abuse, general neglect. And the role of The Child Walfare System.  Many believe that they have a right to do what they want as an adult. Many  have also been taught that theonly way to celebrate, grieve and enjoy life is to Turn Up or use a controlled substance.  When a parent or other family members use drugs or other substances in the home it can create a host of problem. Give me a call at 516 386-1914 and share your opinion. You can't change what you don't acknowledge. Let's protect our children by becoming a better role model. Drug and Alcohol Use Can Hurt Children.
