Much has been in the media lately about sexual assault and violence. April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) in the US. The goal of SAAM is to raise public awareness about sexual violence and to educate communities and individuals on how to prevent sexual violence. The 2013 SAAM campaign  focuses on healthy sexuality and child sexual abuse prevention.

The Washington, DC-based DC Rape Crisis Center (DCRCC) has been a stronghold of advocacy to spread the word about sexual assault. It is dedicated to creating a world free of sexual violence, working to effect social change through community outreach, education, and legal and public policy initiatives. It helps survivors and their families heal from the aftermath of sexual violence through crisis intervention, counseling and advocacy. Committed to the belief that all forms of oppression are linked, the Center values accessibility, cultural diversity and the empowerment of women and children.

Join us for our April show in which DCRCC's Santa Molina-Marshall, Interim Executive Director as well as Director of Counseling and Advocacy, shares her organization's holistic approach to spreading awareness and facilitating healing with those impacted by sexual violence--women, children, AND men--and the success they have had facilitating their clients' journeys From Victimization to Victory.
