Christian Growth 2 Peter 3rd Chapter
When you read scriptures or study the bible you should ask what is God saying to me and why? Who wrote it and why. And how can I apply it to my life. The bible is God Himself talking to us and He uses everything that He created to reveal what we should do or what not do. God gives examples so we can gain and not lose by the mistakes others. When Peter wrote this book 2 Peter it was several year after he first encounter Jesus. This was the last know writing of Peter and not long after he was martyred for his strong conviction for the gospel of Jesus Christ. Jesus said " thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." Matthew 16:18. If we look at the life of Peter we will realize that Peter was enthusiastic, strong-willed, impulsive, at times arrogant and sometimes cocky. But with all his strengths, Peter had several failures in his life. You see Peter was the one who rebuke Jesus when Jesus told His disciples that He would suffer, be killed then crucified, but in three days He would rise. Peter was the one that cut the soldiers ear off and thought that he was right. Peter begin to walk on water and when he took his eyes off Jesus, he sink and the same Peter because of fear denied our Jesus three times. But through it all Peter keep pressing toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. We all fall short of the Glory of God something in our live. But we must do like Peter did fall down, get up, repent and keep it moving. By continuing to grow in grace and the knowledge of God Peter became matured in thethijngs of God.
