Off to the Races Radio presented by The Racing Biz returned March 11 with a show featuring racehorse owners Kenneth Taylor and Peter Vegso.
The one-hour program will air each Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. on ESPN Richmond (106.1 FM) and via livestreaming. It will feature news and conversation about Thoroughbred racing and breeding in Virginia, around the Mid-Atlantic, and across the nation.
Taylor owned the Hall of Famer Xtra Heat, who died recently at age 24. He purchased her for just $5,000, and, under the training of John Salzman, Sr., she went on to win 25 stakes and an Eclipse Award while earning nearly $2.4 million. In 2015 she was inducted into racing’s Hall of Fame.
Vegso, publisher of Chicken Soup for the Soul, owned three Virginia Derby winners during the first incarnation of Colonial Downs. He’ll send out his homebred Lord Miles in Saturday’s key Kentucky Derby prep, the Grade 3 Tampa Bay Derby.
Also on the show: the Virginia Thoroughbred Association's Debbie Easter, Derby Bill Watson with handicapping, and more.
