This week's TheDavidBowersAwards features indie artist Michael Ken plus a discussion of local radio and how it is an effective tool for indie artists.

Michael Ken is a seasoned professional who has worked in the business for 20 years as an indie aritst.  He's been writing and arranging as well as performing with some of the top name artists in the business.  Michael won the finals of the Nashville Music Network showcase at the Gibson Theater in 2006. He has won state and regional competitions in the Colgate Country Showdown in 2006 and 2007.  His style and presence makes him a top draw entertainer as well as a voice that captivates.

Jeff Moulton (The Real Jeff Moulton) joins us for a look at how Rochester Free Radio functions as a strong part of the community and an example of how community radio can be utilized effectively for indie artists. With the growing number of community stations across the country, indie artists are finding them more than an effective alternative to 'coporate radio' but, also, as an effective tool for building their fanbase.
