Tonight we will continue our discusssion of the use of active U.S. military personnel in curtailing illegal immigration at the border.

A study has been done by a NGO regarding defense oversight in Washington DC.  Adam Issacson, the director of Defense Oversight for Latin America states that Trump's new initiative called Operation Faithful Patriots will not differ much than George Bush 43 and Obama's similar implementation of adding troop security to the border.

In 2006, George W. Bush placed 6,000 military personnel at the border for 25 months, costing Americans 1.2 billion.  186,000 illegals were detained and apprehended.  Bush's plan was called Operation Jump Start.  In 2010, Operation Phalanx run by the Obama administration placed 1200 military personnel at the border for 15 months costing taxpayers 160 million.  25,000 illegals were apprehended.

An investigation into what active military were doing to assist the border patrol were mundane activiites like oil changes for vehicles and scans with binoculars.  A lot of sititng around occured. We will examine more deeply into this topic and if it is legal according to the Posse Comitatus law and effective.
