How to push for a life beyond a marginal existence especially after someone dies

Twenty five days ago, my son's sister was killed in Philadelphia.   Most of the murder situation was far beyond our hands as relatives but now with her untimely death of a 21 year old, I am looking for ways to make a positive, strong impact in the world.  I cannot change the course of past events but I can look to God for a powerful message to bring hope to the future for many.   How shall I do this?  With Jon as my guide, we will look for ways to not only stay on the path of God but bring light to others.  This week marks the end of my son's best friend stay with us.  I helped him find two jobs and this trip was more successful.
