Planner~
I just started using a new (to me) planner system to organize my life. A good friend brought this system to my attention, and we have together been meeting every morning for the last 20 days for a 5-10 minutes chat, to encourage each other in staying on track in it's use. I may write something about my impressions of this system later. But for now, using this planning system has brought a question to my mind that presents a bit of a conundrum with respect to prophecy and future world events. This conundrum has been present in the Christian church (and in the world at large) since the church was invented by Paul in the first century C.E., and that is this; How do you plan for a future of and about which you are not sure will occur? In other words, what is the point of long term planning of your life if you are not certain that the world will be in existance when you arrive there in time?
For 2000 years or so we have been taught that the world is going to end in a massive Time of Trouble such as never was before, where death and destruction reigns supreme on earth, as a function of what both the Devil does to the people of the earth, and what God does in responce. Earthquakes, fire from heaven, pestilence, famine, war, and strife will kill millions of people before God finally steps in and saves His people. If this is the truth then why bother planning a life that doesn't include this as the driving force? Why bother?
What Rick has brought to the table by identifying a different set of prophecies that have a totally different outcome, and brings into focus a how being in a different 'time-line' has changed how God is now dealing with a different future for mankind, one that involves Peace and Prosperity, rather than Death and Destruction.
