Listening to singer-songwriter Tyler Dumont will open your eyes as well as your ears. This Miami-born, New York-bred artist combines warm honey vocals and smooth rhythmic flow with trap beats that wrap themselves around you and don’t let go. On top of that, she hits hard with real-talk, street-level lyrics that tell the truth about life, love, and lust, straight from her soul. A veteran of the music industry grind, Tyler pulls no punches on her new album project Nomadic Behavior, set for release in 2019 on her own independent label. The first single is the atmospheric and sexy “Don’t Mean It,” where Tyler lyrically captures that fiery push-pull that can spice up a relationship. “Hold up, wait a minute/ I ain’t shit? Well you ain’t either/ Pack your bags, fuck out of here/ You've been evicted, get out of here,” she croons, before adding the chorus, “I said what I said but you know I don’t mean it/ And you say some things that I know you don’t mean." Produced by SwanQo and Josh X, whose work with Cardi B and others have made them among the hottest producers around, “Don’t Mean It” oozes a slow burn groove with the undeniable truths of breaking up then making up. Other tracks on the new project deftly showcase her songwriting and vocal skills. Another sexy vibe infuses “Nights in L.A.,” where a visit to the West Coast puts Tyler in the mood for rendezvous, where she promises, “when you put it down, I’mma turn it up, we’re gonna get real loud, I’mma give you what you want, if you really wanna have some fun come my way, these are my nights in LA.” The track ends with a clever musical quote of Tupac’s “California Love.”
