The Smooth Balladeer Heston Stops bye to discuss His Album"Warm Human Cold World"
The globe-trotting performer has come a long way from that shy boy child. Dominica born, Philly schooled, and Atlanta refined, the largely self-taught singer/songwriter/arranger/producer and guitarist with the smooth, singular sound and then bohemian appearance soon attracted a devoted following in ATL. At the urgings of fellow musicians, Heston created his self-titled EP in 2003 and a follow-up in 2008, Storyteller, through his own label, World Soul Music, and landed multiple distribution deals, including the UK’s Dome Records. Learning to be self-sufficient, Heston partnered with Grammy-winning producer Phil Driver, Khari Simmons (Jiva), and Sam Sims on Storyteller. The results? The radio-hits "If" and "Angel" landed on several much sought-after compilations, including: The Soul Lounge, Vol. 1: The Vibe Compilation, This Is Soul 2005, Atlanta Soul - Soulful Kinship From The Phoenix City CD, became among the most downloaded indie soul singles on iTunes. For its part, the critically-acclaimed Storyteller earned Heston nominations for a BET-J Virtual Award for "Best Underground Artist" for "No Way" and two SoulTracks Readers Choice Awards for "Best R&B/Soul Male Artist" and "Best New Artist of the Year." With, Warm Human, Cold World, wait ‘til you see what’s next.
