There are many individuals that are living with PTSD also known as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Such is when an individual has difficulties recovering after experencing or witnessing a terrifying or traumatic event. The condition may last months or years with triggers that can bring back memories of the trauma accompanied by intense emotional and physical reactions. One may exhibit triggers, symptoms, behavioral concerns, psychological issues, mood, sleep, emotional detatchmment and relational issues.
There are a lot of myths as it relates to PTSD. Many believed that only individuals with military experience could develop symptoms however, individuals are living with symptoms and have experienced life events apart from having been in the military or experiencing a war. Secondary trauma, watching the news, scrolling through social media as well as relational experiences can also result in one experiencing symptoms of PTSD. Left untreated symptoms of PTSD could wreck havoc in one's life. Join myself and others as we discuss this topic. To join in on the conversation call 516 387-1914. I want to hear your thoughts.
