When it comes to the Criminal Justice System one must question, is justice really for all? This is a question that would vary from individual to individual based on their experience, race, culture and social economic status. It is a pervasive notion in America that Justice is blind, fairly administered and equal to all. However it is documented in a report that says that there is a lack of diversity among the nation's judiciary which is hindering fairness and the image of equality in the U.S. Justice System. There is definitely a problem especially for people of color.
There are individuals that get arrested and go before a judge however do the punishment fit the crime. Do the judge focus on punishment, rehabilitation or both? And what about the innocent when there is no evidence or insufficient evidence.
Many individuals have taken deals as they lacked knowledge of the system. Others have been found guilty when they were innocent. And other have been set free knowing that they committed the crime or received a sentence lesser than an individual of color that committed the same crime.
Join myself, a mother of a young man looking at a life sentence and others as we discuss this matter. There is unity in numbers. We must unify, educate, vote and stand up against the injustice within the criminal justice system. All callers are welcome. Live 7/2318 at 7:00pm Pacific.
