PCPC / BSLF HBCU Solar Radio Initiative
Hosted By: Ronald K. Bethea
This show will serve as a national platform for black American consumers who will be affected by federal, state, and municipal mandates requiring that twenty percent of residential home owners in Washington DC and the state of Maryland install solar panels by year 2032. We will have interviews with representatives of the private, public and non-profit sectors, informing our listeners about the benefits of installing solar panels and every subject matter of economic interest surrounding the solar and renewal energy industry. Guests will discuss the important roles black Americans play every day in their jobs in the solar and renewable energy industry. Guests will include Black American owners of solar companies, staffers from the Department of Energy, both federal, state, city, and local, federal, private sector and nonprofit policy makers. For example, we will invite the President & Founder of The Green For All Team, Mr. Van Jones, who is a Black American Yale-educated attorney and CNN political commentator. He has authored two New York Times best selling books, The Green Economy (2008) and Rebuild the Dream (2012). The second book chronicles his journey as an environmental and human rights activist to becoming a White House policy advisor. He was the main advocate for the Green Jobs Act signed into law by George W. Bush in 2007. The Green Jobs Act was the first piece of federal legislation to codify the term “green jobs.” During the Obama Administration, the legislation resulted in $500 million in national funding for green jobs training.
