This week I found myself asking the question, how do you stay focused in a world full of sound bites? I also realized that, more than ever, I am so focused. My direction is clear. Clear in that I refuse to get off track by things and noise. Shawn Blanc said, "If you're feeling overwhelmed, ask yourself if it's because you're on the edge of doing something awesome, or is life showing you that something needs to be cut out?" My eldest brother used to say you have to know when to hold up, when to fold up, and when to walk away. Yet, I also recognize that no man is an island. No man walks alone. And if that is the case, how do you stay focused, walk away when you know it's not working and yet remain connected. I recently responded to a question in a survey that asked, what is the one thing life has taught you. My response is that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me, but I don't have to simultaneously do them all at once. If you're like me, you're a planner. However, I realize many people may not plan. They simply exist in a world where they do what is expected because their title may dictate that this is what they should be doing. We may have the same title, but our lifestyle or what we need to function in this world may be completely different. My circumstance may warrant different outcomes and inputs than yours. Today I want to share some practical steps to stay focused in a world full of sound bites. Grab your mug and fill it up. COME HAVE A CUP OF COFFEE ON ME.
