One of my FB friends posed a question that made me do this topic. It said: "If you was a boss and I wanted a job, and all you had was my FB info would you hire me based on what you see on my wall?" First of all if you haven't heard more and more upper level employers are actually going to people social network sites and GOOGLE to find information about current and future employees. MOST websites like FB, Myspace, and Twitter are public domains and the info and words you post can be easily accessed, especially if you haven't had any tweaks to your privacy settings. So if all someone had to goo by was that info like the question is posed, you might not be giving an accurate assessment of yourself if you make up or post things that really don't depict the real you. Number one on this list is a fake photo...yes people still do that! Another may be a political view you have, or even a social view. If you always blast Republicans on your page and you future employer is one (which is very likely if they are rich and a business owner) then you might have cost yourself a job. Of course this is a RIDICULOUS practice in MY EYES because how we interact in the workplace has nothing to do with our personal lives unless we bring our issues and ideals with us. You can be a freaky party girl with a 100 pics that look like girls gone wild on FB and still be an A+ accountant. So here are the questions: 1) DOES YOUR SOCIAL NETWORK PAGE ACCURATELY DEPICT WHAT KIND OF PERSON YOU TRULY ARE? 2) DO YOU THINK JOBS SHOULD CONSIDER WHAT YOU POST ON SOCIAL NETWORKS IN ORDER TO GET A JOB? 3) DO YOU EVER SAY SOMETHING ON YOUR PAGE THAT YOU KNOW ISNT HOW YOU REALLY FEEL? 4) DO YOU HAVE PICTURES OR COMMENTS THAT WOULD SHOCK MOST OF THE PEOPLE YOU WORK WITH IF THEY SAW OR READ THEM? 5) IF YOU HAD A CO WORKER THAT HAD SOME DISTURBING COMMENTS ON THEY SOCIAL SITE WOULD YOU TREAT THEM DIFFERENT AT WORK? 6) WHAT DO YOU THINK PEOPLE WOULD THINK OF YOU IF ALL THEY HAD WAS YOUR SOCIAL SITE AS A GUIDE?
