Joining an enlightened Order doesn't make us more than what we are. Unique, bold, inquisitive, skeptic, stoic, epicurean, floating through time/space all trying to get by the best we can with what we have. This bookmark in time doesn't necessarily recalibrate thought and behaviour as much as matching expectations with those we trust. It's like a liberal education with a caveat attached. Prove what you've learned. Apply what you now know. Influence the world around us with the kindness and manner of an enlightened gentleman. How tantalizingly Masonic. The secret is how. How do we show that care? A fund raiser for a worthy purpose? Acknowledging unsettling ideas that bring us closer to equality? How or whether we make the adjustment is functionally left to us. Can I tell you cerebral masonry is mistaken? It would be foolish to dismiss ideas. Keep in mind masons built cathedrals to last, for public use. Attempts by politics and religion to erase threatening souvenirs brought even more attention to alternative causes. And so masonry was always there- in the background, building and training next generations. Still is.
