What if the way we connect with one another as humans was improved? What if machines began to understand emotion? While humans struggle with emotional intelligence, science has created technology that understands common sense. Inevitably the world around us will continue to change at an accelerated rate. Lets examine how will this effect Masonry by examining a statement that has become a cliche: we never did things that way before (we shouldn't change). Technology and the way we communicate with people is changing at a quickening pace. Humanity has always been slavishly adapting any new forms of communication that improves outcomes. We are symbiotically linked; and as AI accelerates our learning how will we determine those stopping points? Will these amazing feats of interaction and efficiency fundamentally separate from Masonry that in a misused sense of nostalgia, give over decision making to 'machines'"?" We aren't looking at whether we will change, but how. How will we continue to reinvent Masonry but at a level of intelligence beyond a human mind? AI contains tremendous potential. IF. If we release ourselves to absorb new technology and information we will thrive but is this going to be a choice? Will we have a choice? Look around. The way we evaluate progress depends heavily on our scholarship and comprehension. And can we afford to ignore the larger ethical questions that are coming our way?
