Masonry was a product of reason and curiousity. Without colonialism, we should doubt it would have spread to the extent it has. Time has not been kind to our colonial overlords. Colonialism is a historical footnote associated with imperialism. Science has discovered a chemistry that produced colonialism had a detrimental environmental effect, feeding on the exploitation of cultures less relentless. Superstition and religion are now in the same chapter. Belief now is a polarity- not always beneficial. And non-believers are told they are unhappy and aimless because they have rejected orthodoxy. For so long, we tried to be the best subjects of the Monarchs, better than any other colony. More obedient. More subservient. Enjoying a false confidence is the price paid for the status quo. But now geometry has taken us into new-old ideas and we are able to rely on the tenants of masonry to stabilize our lives and community.
