FREEMASONRY: THE WORLD DOES THE TEACHING

A man learns for himself or he doesn't.  At an early age we teach our children the basic forms of literacy. Reading and writing are important tools to function as an adult.  As a child grows capability becomes known to us by behaviour.  Personality and intelligence is defined.  The child is influenced by the atmospheres experienced, intended and otherwise.  Need and opportunity influence what a person does. Experience can shape the way a person connects with the world around. When does the mind leave behind the frivolity of youth is unclear. For some, it is early. For others, it is a gradual process. 

The principles and philosophy of freemasonry can not be imposed on anyone. It is when the mentoring occurs, that a more cultured mind becomes accessible to the apprentice.  The history of freemasonry let's us know there are expectations of a manner to one another and to others; acts of philanthropy and 'charity'; to not brag or assume propriety; to be generous of spirit, quick to forgive, willing to entertain the dissenting opinion, easy in his manner.

Poking at a man with ideas has probably done more to discourage learning than any other function.
