“The Birth of Moses”
Exodus 2:1-10
It’s hard to imagine a mother abandoning her newborn baby, but unfortunately it happens frequently. Some of these mothers must be broken-hearted, but they are so beaten down by life’s problems that they imagine they have no alternative. Others may be hardened by sin. The heartwarming part of these stories is that there is usually a crowd of people wanting to adopt the abandoned baby. Moses’ mother was driven by her maternal love and her faith in God (see Hebrews 11:23). Not willing to let the Egyptians kill her baby, she acted by faith to save him, even though it put her life in jeopardy.
