Jerry Sichting celebrates birthday No. 66 today (Nov. 29, 2022) with a lively discussion about his playing days and the parallels between his Big Ten title season when Sichting was team captain under Lee Rose in 1979 and the current Boilermaker squad.
Sichting, a Martinsville, Ind., native who starred for Purdue under coaches Fred Schaus and Lee Rose from 1976-79, spent nearly 40 years as a player or coach in the NBA for various teams, including winning the NBA title as a player with the Boston Celtics in 1986.
Inducted into the Purdue Hall of Fame in 2012, Sichting lives in Bonita Springs, Fla., and will enjoy part of his birthday on the golf course, where he is a 7-handicap.
