The story of the Purdue men's basketball first trip to the Final Four as remembered by key players George Faerber and Ralph Taylor. The Boilermakers, under coach George King, finished the season 23-5 overall, and second place in the NCAA Tournament losing to UCLA, a dynasty at the time. Purdue captured the Big Ten title for the first time in 29 years, and captured the imagination of Purdue fans finishing unbeaten at home, and leading the nation in scoring with starts Rick Mount, Herman Gilliam and Billy Keller.
