Gyasmine George-Williams, Ph.D, also known as "Dr. G," is an activist, socio-cultural practitioner, and assistant professor at the University of La Verne. She earned her bachelors in Psychology from CSU Los Angeles, masters in College Counseling and Student Development and masters in Educational Counseling with a Pupil Personnel Services credential from the University of La Verne, and PhD in Higher Education with a Certificate in Strengths-Oriented Higher Education from Azusa Pacific University.
Dr. G serves on the Black Scholars Advisory Board, Black Faculty and Staff Association, and is a faculty partner to La Verne’s intercollegiate athletics committee.
Her research and passion includes athlete and student activism, students of color and faculty interaction, women of color in leadership, and critical race theory in higher education. She has presented both domestically and internationally.
Dr. G has also created models curated to honor and center the experiences of activists known as the Black athlete activist leadership (BAAL) model for stakeholders who serve athlete activists holistically from the: individual, programmatic, and systemic level.
Most recently, Dr. G birthed the Activist Growth Model (c) (AGM), a research-based framework and guide for this very timely moment on how to utilize your voice for change. Both models can be found in her newly released book Love Is at the Root of Resistance: Strategies of Activism, Advocacy and Liberation. She is also the founder of GGW Consulting: Consulting Rooted in Advocacy.
