Myss Johnson-Jelks is Director of Athletics at KIPP Atlanta Collegiate. A graduate of North Springs H.S. in Atlanta, she obtained her B.S. in Recreation & Sport Management and M.Ed. in Health & P.E. from University of West Georgia. She has an Ed.S. in Education Leadership and is ABD for her Ed.D. in Curriculum & Instruction from Argosy University. She served on GAHPERD's Executive Board, is a certified athletics administrator, and member of the GA Athletic Director’s Association.
As A.D. & Health and P.E. Chair at Henry W. Grady H.S., she was part of the Human Growth and Development Curriculum Writing Team for Atlanta Public Schools. While teaching Health & P.E. at Booker T. Washington H.S. and Atlanta Virtual Academy, she served in a variety of roles including being on the Leadership Team.
At Lithonia M.S., she was part of the school improvement and a member of the Curriculum Writing and Revision Team for Health & P.E. in DeKalb County. She taught and coached at Lithonia H.S., where she also served as Department Chairperson. She has been an Adjunct at Atlanta Metropolitan College and Deputy Sheriff for Fulton County. A member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., she is married to Marcus Jelks, A.D. and Head Football Coach at Lithonia H.S. They have one daughter.
