It's the beginning of August and that means we are winding down the Great Caribbean Summer Festival but here on the Caribbean Global Voices Saturday Morning Entertainment Show, the celebration does not stop. In fact it does not even slow down. So we will say greetings and celebrate with the people who have something to celebrate in August. We can begin by saying Happy Birthday to special fans Erma in St. Martin and Omel in the U.K. Their birth dates come up next week.but we encourage them to celebrate for a month. But with everything that's going on around us all around the world, we have to take time out to reflect and have a conversation. So Let's Talk.
The U.S. Supreme Court has issued its opinion stating that the President of the United States has blanket immunity from prosection for official acts even when those acts constitute criminal offenses. This decision has history and constitutional scholars going "WHAAAAAT!!!!!!!??????. This decision has demolished hundreds of years of social and cultural tradition which relate to the maxim. "No Man Is Above the Law". What makes this decision even more repulsive is that the Court did not define what constitutes officical. This means that anything goes and the outcome will be determined by who is being charged with criminal conduct and and who has the power of decision as to what constitutes an official act. It follows that the decisions will be inconsistent. It seems that the United States is a republice where the Chief Executive is a King. Do you think that the Court issued the decision specifically to protect Donald Trump in pending criminal trial for attempting to undermine the election? Would you consider the attempt to undermine the election an official act? Come on in. Join the conversation or tell us what you want to talk about, we are always happy to hear from you?
