It is the final episode of the Saturday Morning Entertainment Show for the year 2022, as brought to you by the Caribbean Global Voices. Your host Ivor Henry will be right here to bring it to you. As is the custom in this part of the world the old year ends and the new year begins with much celebration. Today is the sixth day of Kwanzaa: KUUMBA - CREATIVITY. The objective is to always do as much as we can in the way we can to leave our community more beautiful and beneficial than we inherited it. Habarigani Kuumba. Then there are other festivities in Montserrat, St. Croix and St. Kitts. Therefore there is still a lot to celebrate and lots of reasons to convey greetings across the world. We convey our best wishes to those who celebrate and hope for a peaceful, beneficial and gratifying season of celebration as the season comes to a close.
We are grateful for the moments of celebration to take our minds off all this trouble in the world but we cannot ignore it. On Christmas Day, two Black teenagers, 18 and 13 were physically attacked by white men in South Africa who accused them of swimming in a "Whites Only" pool where the young men and their parents were staying at a resort. These men used chokeholds and could be seen even attempting to drown one of the boys. A criminal case has been opened but charges have since been reduced from attempted murder to common assault. What is it that drives these violent offenses against Black people in post-racist America and post-apartheid South Africa? Are these apologies that have been offered in recent years anything more than hollow mockery. Let's talk. Join the conversation or tell us what you want to talk about we will be happy to hear from you.. .
