A teenage gamer from Estonia named Artjom...Delfin, a young man on a perilous journey from Latin America to the United States...three Japanese sisters in LA, and a hijacked cruise ship. Worlds collide in the new novel by Patricio X. Maya, "Reggaeton Cruise." The lives of each character, from different walks of life are drawn into a changing world. Artjom has jumped from the game world to the real one as a drone pilot for the US Army, Delfin has gone from rags to riches, and the Coalition of the Eager have taken over a cruise ship to draw attention to their cause. Questions of change, how each views the world around them, and how globalization has connected an entire planet, but at what cost?
Author, essayist and educator Patricio X. Maya joins Tory Gates on the Brown Posey Press Show to talk about "Reggaeton Cruise," plus the collection "Walking Around with Fante and Bukowski," available on Grady Miller Books. A native of Quito, Ecuador, Maya came to the US at age twelve and grew up in Los Angeles, where he resides. His other writings include "80 Mph" and the "New Democracy Struggle."
