Perhaps one of the most important responsibilities of an “Elder” in a community is to teach and prepare the next generation to be sober in thought and responsibly independent in action. However, over the last generation or two, young people have simply been pacified by the gimmicks and glitter of pop culture. Consequently, when it comes to accepting certain realities of personal responsibility and appropriate behaviors in society as a whole, too many of our youth are prone to respond to socioeconomic pressures with violence and destruction.
