HOW SHOULD WE FOCUS OUR ATTENTION: ON THE GOOD OR BAD YOUTH?

Quite often people looking to support youth are faced with the dilemma of deciding which group of youth in Urban America should have limited resources spent on them; those who are greatest at risk to social demise or those who display promise of becoming success in society. The latter is similar to the parable of the “Prodigal Son” – We want and need to encourage and reward our young for positive behaviors, yet at the same time there is a responsibility to care for those who are gone astray.
