GARLAND NEW TEEN CITY

The NEW TEEN CITY offers a unique afterschool experience for teenagers. Given the current need for societal acceptance and around-the-clock access to various social media outlets, teenagers have developed greater interdependence, leading to unanticipated lifestyle choices. Students' teenage years are critical and should not be overlooked. Instead, these times should be spent networking, learning, and developing the social skills necessary to interact with the different personalities, cultures, and obstacles they are prone to face as they move into adulthood.  

At TeenCity, parents will have the peace of mind knowing that their teenager is in a safe environment. Our venue is adult-monitored and staffed with licensed security officers. Student members can engage in kinesthetic activities, study with peers, participate in gaming competitions, or simply lounging in the student zone. Whatever their choice, these independence and social networking moments are priceless during their teenage years and critical as they prepare for college and career explorations.

Founder—Dr. Chris Turner is a lifelong educator who believes that all students deserve equitable treatment and opportunities to achieve their tremendous potential. Through his school experiences as a classroom teacher, coach, and administrator, Chris has discovered that kids respond accordingly through proper discourse and genuine relational encounters. Chris continues to mentor and educate students as a secondary school principal. He hopes that TeenCity will serve as a structural bridge for teenagers as they transition into adulthood.

Teen City recognizes the significant impact of after-school programs on teenagers' well-being and aims to offer an inclusive out-of-school experience for a diverse group of teenage members.
