Hello everyone, I am Leonna Abraham Brandao, Host for Blog Talk Radio/ Shedding Light . We have what's known in the United States, as mass incarcerations, which no other Country in the World has. I have been interviewing Miriam Jacobs, Psychosocial Therapist from the Netherlands and I've also interviewed Franz Kurz From Germany, who speak on the conditions and treatment in their Country compared to that in the U.S. We also look at Norway, the Role Model of the Penal System Worldwide.
Miriam is back with us today. In addition, to our Guests, Lieutenant Michael Johnson, a 14 year Correctional Officer, who retired from the Montana Department of Corrections, in early 2020. His experience involved working with people in the correctional setting, of both genders, ranging from 13 to 90 years old. His extensive work experience ultimately led to his writing a Book, which he will get into shortly. Also on with us, is Rhonda Champagne, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker/Therapist, who currently has her private practice providing individual therapy. She was hired by the Montana DOC to assist with the implementation of a pilot project implementing a trauma-informed treatment program for adult female inmates. She previously spent many years working in a community mental health center where she provided a multitude of services, including the provisions of a day treatment specialist/case manager, a crisis intervention specialist, therapist, team leader, and eventually the director. Let's Welcome our Guest and also learn more about “Correcting Treatment in Corrections”, Michael's Latest achievement.
