Hello everyone, I am Leonna Abraham Brandao, Host for Blog Talk Radio/ Shedding Light.

We have on with us today, Two Special Guests, Anita Wills a writer, author, speaker and community activist. Ms. Wills is the author of six books, including "A Nation of Flaws", "Just Us in the Homeland", which is a historical account of policing in America. In addition, Anita, is an Activist for Black Live Matter. She sits on the Advisory and Leadership Board for Essie Justice Group and a Policy Outreach Leader (POL), for Ron Dellums Social Justice Institute. Anita's Activism, began when her son Kerry Baxter, Sr. was wrongfully convicted of 2nd Degree Murder in 2003. When her grandson was shot and killed in Oakland, California, her Activism took a new turn only, when she found out there were Connection within the Police Dept. Anita now advocates around many issues, including wrongful convictions, unrealistic and very harsh sentences of African Americans, sentencing reform, prisoners’ rights, and ending money bail, and Police Accountability.  We also want to welcome another Special Guest, Carl Allen, Founder and Director of "Stand up and Do Something". Offices in CA and Syrucuse, New York. Carl has been very influential, in the fine advocacy network that he has established, which he will be discussing as well. So. let's welcome Anita Wills and Carl Allen.
