Good Morning Everyone. I am Leonna Abraham Brandao, Prisoner Advocate and Host for Blog Talk Radio Shedding Light.
We all try to understand why many Youth are at risk and why young, now old Incarcerated first-time offenders have fallen or are at risk of failure. In addition, it is unthinkable that these individuals, rather than be appropriately treated for mental illnesses, addictions and/or anger management, are serving life/LWOP sentences behind cold prison bars with no appropriate rehabilitative resources, but who are being abused and deprived and expected to remain in this kind of inhumane environment for the rest of their lives. Many of these individuals who committed their first and only offense while under the age of 25 years, and whose cases should be considered individually, rather than stereotyped.
