Why Jerusalem Is Considered to be
an Important, Holy City?
04.10.2019
Jerusalem is mentioned in the Bible 811 times, 661 times in the Old testament and 150 in the New Testament, and not once in the Quran (Koran)!
Now, we know why Jerusalem once again, since the time of King David has been recognized as the capital of Israel, and why the United State of America has recently moved its embassy to Jerusalem!
About 3,000 years ago, when King David conquered Jerusalem from the Jebusites and established the capital of his kingdom there. The city continued as the capital of the kingdom for 400 years, until its first destruction at the hands of the Babylonians in 586/7 BCE. This period is known as the First Temple period and is documented in the Biblical books of Samuel, Kings, Chronicles and the various prophets. 1 Kings 2:11.
The earliest name of Jerusalem is called “Salem,” which is mentioned in Genesis 14:18; Ps. 76:2. The word Zion which is considered to be the spiritual name of Jerusalem is found 152 times. It is also called the “Holy City” 10 times, the “City of God,” twice, the city of Truth, and the city of the great King. More about this topic during my Wednesday broadcast.
