Special Guest:  Dr. David Deitch, Co-Founder of Daytop Village, Professor Emeritus, University of California at San Diego, Department of Psychiatry, discusses the birth and infancy period of Daytop Village, and the evolution of the Therapeutic Community (TC) as an approach for treating substance use disorders. In addition to the above, Dr. Deitch has written extensively on the subject of addiction and treatment, and is the founding Director of the Center for Criminality & Addiction, Research, Training, & Application (CCARTA). Dr. Deitch has over 45 years experience in the development of drug abuse treatment systems for adolescents and adults, nationally, and internationally. This is part 1 of a 3 part series.
