For The Love of Two Men Part 1.

 Born Darryl Carlos Wooten to Charlie and Maggie Wooten of Newport News Va. He was born and raised a devote Jehovah’s Witness. He was groomed by his father, and grew to be an excellent auditor, and disciple of the faith. After dedicating his life at 12 years old, he later begin to question his choice during his teenage years. Like many teenagers the curiosity of the world took to him, and Darryl left his fathers house at 18 to join the U.S. Army. He was therefore disfellowship (cut off), from his family and friends. This was the start of what he called a quest for knowledge.

Darryl tried to find his place in the ‘normal’ society, but for some reason he just could not fit in. He would later write, “…there were some things I just wasn’t willing to do.” He would spend three years Germany and experience racism, something that his father’s faith had protected him from. “The Germans would treat black men as God’s while the U.S. Army would treat us as garbage, he would write, I couldn’t understand that." Those experiences he would later called "his demons” brought back a new man. Armed with his fathers training, and a military beating, a new BLACK activist was born, Daawud Naseer El-Amin

Daawud Naseer El-Amin is currently director of No Covers Inc. a Wilmington N.C. based company which specializes in black male development. He has now been a community activist for over twenty five years. His activities and afflictions have included; Trans Africa, Forever Freedom Fighters, World Community of Al-Islam in the West, Coalition for a Drug Free World, Elevating Communities to Higher Opportunities (ECHO), Direct Support Professionals, Leading Into New Communities (LINC), Nation of Islam, and The Blue Ribbon Commission on Youth Violence.
