Gun Violence In American Schools - Is There A Solution? The heartbreaking and senseless slaughter at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on February 14 took seventeen lives, sent fourteen people to the hospital, and ignited a vocal, informed high school students to take on a job in which they felt adults had failed them. That is, making the legislators and all members of the United States government take responsibility for student safety, and to value the lives of students and teachers more highly than the hefty sponsorships and campaign contributions of the National Rifle Association.
