Tonights Interview Young TeTe
An exotic entertainer by night who dances at Atlanta gentlemen’s establishments such as Blaze, Strokers, Rumors and Diamond, the 21-year-old neophyte MC initially envisioned a different exit plan. “How I was gon’ get out of the club is I was gonna start selling hair and open a hair salon,” she says. “I wasn’t even thinking about rapping. That wasn’t even on my mind.” Following a chance meeting with Money Grip Ent. label head Key Odom, who saw star potential in the young entertainer, TeTe got into the studio in the summer of 2019 and started banging out tracks like a seasoned vet, beginning with the still-unreleased song, “Yo Nigga.” Now, armed with two singles, “Clap It” and the “Clap It (Remix)” featuring Boosie BadAzz, she has plans to go from the shake joint to shaking up the industry with her brand of risqué rhymes. “‘Clap It’ came from the vibe in the strip club,” she says of the twerk-inducing anthem. “I work in the club, so I wanted to do a song for the club. It’s a song the women will dance to and a song the guys will spend their money to because they don’t’ want to look broke.” After inking a distribution deal with Universal/INGrooves in March, TeTe is currently crafting her debut project, Came a Long Way, which will feature Boosie BadAzz, Young Dro and more. Nothing is off limits. “I’m real,” she says of her style. “I’m hard, I’m sexy and raw.” The naked truth.
